Other gift ideas
I would add the Zagg iPad cases with keyboard, or the LifeProof iPhone and iPad cases. Those LifeProof cases really work to protect your little gem from coffee spills, or even an errant drop in the pool.

Re: Other gift ideas
I don't do much traveling for work, but the Uber app seems like a must-have for those who do (or often find themselves in cities). Readers: what other travel apps, gizmos or gadgets are on your list?

Re: Other gift ideas
Uber has come under fire in NY for price gouging--to the tune of eight or so times the normal price in a storm.

Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Another gift idea is the Mophie Jucie Pack case that can extend the battery time on your iPhone 5, 5s, 4s, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod, Samsung S4.  It's a protective case and a rechargeable battery supplement.

Help, I need a gift idea! My techie has most of these items!
These are some pretty cool gift ideas. What you suggest buying for the techie, that has everything on this list? And are there any other apps you would suggest for am extremely driven techie? Does anyone have any ideas? Help, Christmas is right around the corner! Thanks! :)

The Tumi Backpack - What about the guys?
I'm jealous! In addition to the traditional keys and wallet, most of us guys have to carry a smartphone, eyeglasses, and prescription medicines, and I only have so many pockets. It's high time the fashion gurus and trendsetters come together and invent something appropriate for us in which to carry all this necessary equipment. Maybe some kind of utility belt like Batman employs?

Re: The Tumi Backpack - What about the guys?
Gary,

No need to be jealous. I think the Tumi backpack is good for both men, and women. And yes, I know what you mean. The man of the 21st century has to carry at least keys, wallet, smartphone, eyeglasses, or sunglasses, or both, tablet.

For some reason I find American men more reluctant to carry a bag than European men. Fashion designers have already worked out the problem in Europe, and you see men happily carrying different models of bags with all their techies, and stuff.

If you travel for business to Europe, maybe you can have a look around, and maybe get yourself your very own nice bag. :)

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
