Mobile BI is the future
Hi its nice article giving greater insights in to future of business intelligence space, as a BI evangelist  I strongly think Mobile BI is the future and most of the leading BI companies are working in to this direction.

I have come across very nice article on the role of Mobile BI on the website Tata Business Support Services - of leading business process management company from India.

Re: Addition to trend #1
Hi, Rebecca,

Thank you for your comment. Please in future do identify yourself as a vendor when commenting - it's important to readers to know that you work for Pentaho.

I do think the term "visual data discovery" is sometimes overused by vendors who want to ride that wave. I have some specific criteria that I look for for a product to fall into that category. All the BI tool modules - from queries to dashboards - support visualizations. The difference with visual data discovery tools is the agility to manipulate (binning, groups, etc.) and mash the data together, as well as the automatic, interactive visualizations.  So I'm not yet convinced that what you added in version 5 falls into this category.

With that said, I would expect that any major BI vendor not yet doing so, will continue to evolve their capabilities in this segment.

Regards,

Cindi

Addition to trend #1
Hi Cindi,

Great outlook on trends for 2014. It is going to be an exciting year. Another vendor that will be making major waves this year in visual data discover is Pentaho. They reworked their platform from the ground up and launched Pentaho Business Analytics 5.0 with over 250 new features and improvements in October 2013. In line with your first trend, a major focus of the new platform is a simplified analytics and user experience as well as blended big data at the source for more accurate insights. http://www.pentaho.com/5.0
