Cloud data centers get bigger, devices accessing them get smaller
Good observations by Stephen Forte. Wearables will appear in the workplace and IT must prepare for them. This follows my description of the "cloud paradox" in 2009 in "Management Strategies for the Cloud Revolution." Data centers in the cloud will get bigger as the devices used to access them get smaller.

Good point, yes, it's funny when you think about how computing devices are now primarily all about portability and thus the push for wearables. The issue I still see, is how do you balance functionality.  As someone who owns a pebble smartwatch, while most of the time I remember the reasons I purchased it (avoid interacting with my phone as much as possible), there is still some functionality that I would love to see built in, that makes no sense for it to have.  The question is how do you keep the balance between making a wearable practical for its key purpose, and not overload it with everything and anything to make it try to fit into every niche. I think that will determine the success of products in the future.

I'm wary of any wearable use case that involves pushing data to the consumer (send an alert when). I have lots of those options on my phone, and I tell nearly every app it can't send me push notifications. People are going to be very selective of which apps they value enough to allow that access.

Good point, ChrisMurphy. However, when data is no longer being pushed to the user/consumer, a lot of the marketing appeal for the wearable goes out the window. The retail example cited is innovative, but it requires me to allow the app to push data to me. I think a Google Glass application in that environment loses its appeal if the user has to request the information. They might as well save the dollars and use shopper's smart phones.
