Oracle Goes Bam

Oracle said last week it's adding business-activity monitoring capabilities to its application server. Such systems analyze business-process data in real time and notify people of changing conditions. For example, business-activity monitoring can check a company's shipping operation and issue alerts when delays exceed set thresholds. Celequest, FirstRain, and Tibco Software are among the vendors selling these applications. Oracle's business-activity monitoring will provide managers with a dashboard for keeping tabs on key performance indicators and link with Oracle E-Business Suite applications for acting on alerts, says Thomas Kurian, senior VP of development for Oracle's application server. The monitoring technology should be ready by late summer.
