This is the penultimate 3G iPhone teaser. An Apple reseller in Australia has received a mysterious shipment of unidentified contents that is under strict NDA and not allowed to be opened until June 10. What could be in there? Gee, I wonder...Of course, everyone is speculating that the box contains the coveted 3G iPhone. June 10 is what the date will be in Australia when Jobs gives his WWDC keynote on Monday, June 9, in San Francisco.

There's one pesky issue. The box is small. It's not nearly large enough to contain many 3G iPhones. It is large enough to contain one. Why would only one iPhone be in this package? Because the 3G iPhone isn't going to be for sale on June 9 or June 10. This one unit will be for the reseller to display only, with a "coming soon" sign posted nearby. In the United States, the supposed availability date is June 18. MacTalk, the Australian Mac community site that is reporting the story, notes June 19 as the local availability date, which happens to coincide with the opening of an Apple Store in Sydney.

This is yet more evidence that the 3G iPhone will be announced on Monday, but not available until nine days later.

The poor reseller, meanwhile, has to exert an amazing amount of self control in order to refrain from tearing into the box over the weekend and sharing news of the contents therein with the world.
