Blog Comment Replacement Service Gets Boost
The company previously raised $1.2 million in Series A funding from The Entrepreneurs' Fund. The company notes that the funding will be used to expand the development team and increase the capacity of its data center. JS-Kit provides a suite of tools that can be easily installed on a blog using a simple block of code. The tools include: comments, ratings, polls, and comment scoring. There's also a widget that can display the most popular or highest rated stories. JS-Kit recently acquired Haloscan, which has helped move its total installs to more than 500,000. The company also has announced that Australian consultant Chris Saad has joined the company as a strategic adviser. Saad was the founder of the DataPortability project. Last, the company shared with us that it is targeting commercial accounts, which can help it move toward profitability. Other players in the comment replacement space include Disqus and the recently acquired IntenseDebate. IntenseDebate is now part of the Automattic family, which also is responsible for WordPress. SezWho is another company working in the commenting space, but rather than replace the comments on a blog, it offers a ratings and reputation service that sits on top of the current commenting service. « Motorola Rolls Out The Krave, A Touch-Based Phone | Main | Getting The Word Out About OpenOffice.org 3 » |
