Apple will use the event to show off iPhone operating system 3.0.Very few details are available at the moment. According to Engadget, what we know for sure is that Apple will introduce iPhone OS 3.0. Apple did not say when the OS would be available, nor what features it will include.
Apple announced version 2.0 of its iPhone software about a year ago. The update between 1.0 and 2.0 brought with it major changes in the iPhone's operating system. We can expect the leap from 2.0 to 3.0 to bring with it similarly large updates. Hopefully the availability of the software won't be too far off in the future. Apple also mentioned that it will have a new version of the iPhone SDK.

Apple didn't provide any information about whether or not iPhone OS 3.0 will coincide with a new version of the iPhone itself.
As for a short laundry list of features I'd like to see added:
- Cut-and-paste
- Stereo Bluetooth
- Better camera software
- Better user control over file management
- The ability to arrange apps on the desktop
- MMS
- Integrated e-mail in-box
