Almost a third of Americans--or 37 million people--pay bills and transfer funds using the Internet, according to a study from the Pew Internet and American Life Project. That's up from 17% in March 2000.
Still, brick-and-mortar banks would be remiss if they decided to cater primarily to their online customers. The reason: About 40% of Americans have no interest in using the Internet for anything, Pew estimates.
Who are these naysayers? They're mostly older Americans who don't use computers at work.
