Microsoft Announces Ship Date For Forza Motorsport 2

The video game for Xbox coincides with this weekend's running of the 91st Indianapolis 500.

Gentlemen, start your Xboxes.

Microsoft said Friday that it is releasing the racing video game Forza Motorsport 2 for the Xbox 360 on Tuesday to coincide with this weekend's running of the 91st Indianapolis 500.

The game features an assortment of cars from a range of domestic and foreign manufacturers, including Ferrari, Porsche, Nissan, Volkswagen, General Motors, and Lamborghini.

Gamers can race the cars across a number of virtual tracks modeled after famous real-world circuits, including Italy's Mugello, Japan's Suzuka, and Florida's Sebring International Raceway.

An advanced physics modeling engine is used to simulate damage and wear effects that accumulate as the cars go through their paces. Additionally, advanced tire and suspension models respond to heat and pressure changes as well as weight transfer and aerodynamic load, Microsoft said.

The game was developed to be used in concert with Microsoft's new wireless racing wheel for the Xbox 360. It can be played individually or with other gamers via Microsoft's Xbox Live online gaming service.

Forza Motorsport 2 retails for $59.99. The wireless racing wheel is priced at $129.99, according to Microsoft.
