Microsoft made a big deal about the HTML 5 fidelity and performance of Internet Explorer, which is hardware accelerated. The browser experience is also what Microsoft calls "edge-to-edge"--that is, it consumes the entire screen, and the browser tabs and controls appear only as you need them, giving the user more of the Web, and less of the app delivering it.
