Spicework co-founder Jay Hallberg talks to InformationWeek editor Andrew-Conry Murray about the Spiceworks network management tool, which is provided free and is agentless. The company uses advertising to drive its business, but it keeps user information private. This tool covers the basics, from inventory management (including services like e-mail hosting and backup services), help desk, monitoring and reporting. The goal is to have users download, install and run in less than 5 minutes. So far the company has 325,000 registered users and is adding at least 1,000 per day.
