SOTI Inc. has announced MobiControl V10, the next generation of their mobile security management system.

MobiControl V10 moves beyond classic Mobile Device Management into EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management) techniques, such as Web Filtering, Real Time Antivirus and Malware Protection, Telecom Expense Management, and a Secure Content Library. SOTI claims that MobiControl V10 provides the strongest feature set and broadest device support of any MDM vendor.

EMM is a collection of security techniques for mobile devices. Different vendors use different combinations of them. Some of SOTI's are mobile versions of classic desktop protections, such as web filtering to whitelist or blacklist certain web sites and domains and antivirus/malware protection.

MobiControl V10 also provides TEM or Telecom Expense Management to help companies track and manage voice and data costs, for instance receiving warnings on data overages or roaming. The Help Desk Suite facilitates support, including remote control of iOS and Android devices by support to diagnose and fix problems.

MDM has become commoditized and is, in any case, an inadequate tool for protecting an enterprise. EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management) is the next generation of mobile security.

The Secure Content Library stores encrypted, sensitive data on devices under management so that it can be remotely updated or removed, and updated or expired on pre-set schedules.

In a statement, SOTI President and CEO Carl Rodrigues said "With MobiControl V10... we're moving beyond device management into empowering enterprise mobility with best-in-class remote management and security features, strong integration with backend services including Microsoft Active Directory, SharePoint Server, and certificates, and a superior end user experience."
