Leadership. Everybody talks about it, but we can all agree that true leadership is a rare commodity. How can the enterprise encourage more leaders? And how can you, as a person in the business world, become a true leader? Those are the questions at the heart of our new radio show, InformationWeek's Business Matters, at 3:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

In this episode, George Colombo will be talking about leadership with Kristi Hedges, a noted leadership coach. They'll discuss what leadership means, but they'll also get down to the hands-on with a conversation about how individuals can become more effective leaders for their own organizations. As part of that, they'll spend a great deal of time focusing on how effective leaders communicate with their peers, their employees, and their business partners. If you've ever been on the receiving end of "communication that wasn't" in a business setting, you'll know how important this episode is going to be.

Hedges is a serial entrepreneur, communications expert, author, and sought-after leadership coach. In her 20-year career working with leaders to help them communicate more effectively, Hedges has encountered every personality type imaginable, yet remains more than a little passionate that anyone can learn presence. Hedges writes about leadership for Forbes.com, and she penned The Leadership Factor column for Entrepreneur.com for more than three years. She's been featured in publications as diverse as the Washington Post, Reuters, MSNBC.com, San Jose Mercury News, TheStreet.com, and numerous others.

Hedges runs her own coaching practice, The Hedges Company, and is a founding partner in the leadership development firm Element North.

Register here and join us at 3:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sept. 22, for InformationWeek's Business Matters as George Colombo talks with Kristi Hedges. You -- and the people you communicate with -- will be glad you took the time to be part of the radio conversation and online discussion.
