Overview: This paper published by World Bank Group describes the Social Security reforms in Latin America and what US can learn from it. More than ten countries in Latin America have enacted reforms that have some things in common with what is being contemplated for the US - the partial privatization of social security. But these countries are very different from the US, and it is not easy to draw meaningful lessons for US social security reform from the experience of countries such as Chile, Argentina, and Mexico.
