Trusted Edge, Inc., a provider of retention management and compliance software, has partnered with Mackin Imaging Systems Corporation, one of the largest distributors of document management software in North America. Mackin Imaging Systems will incorporate Trusted Edge's RM Edge solution, which enables companies to proactively improve compliance across the enterprise by enforcing their document and email retention policies at the desktop level, as part of its larger suite of products including Documentum's ApplicationXtender.

Under the terms of the distribution agreement, Mackin Imaging Systems will assume responsibility for the education, training and support of resellers for RM Edge and will rapidly begin to introduce Trusted Edge's product to its reseller channel over the next two months. "Our clients are under increasing pressure to meet regulatory compliance requirements like Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, the Patriot Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley and others," said Ed Mackin Sr., President, Mackin Imaging Systems. "The addition of Trusted Edge's product to our suite will allow our customers to extend their document management and retention policies to include all documents and all emails on the desktop, which will dramatically improve their ability to comply."

RM Edge enables companies to proactively improve compliance across the enterprise by enforcing document retention policies at the desktop. RM Edge automates the retention and disposal of unstructured information — such as critical records, intellectual property and other digital assets — previously under the control of employees on their desktops, where 80 percent of corporate information is created and used, according to the announcement. By addressing the gap at the desktop, RM Edge helps companies organize the retention and storage of critical data, giving them an audit trail to demonstrate compliance with regulations and insuring they are prepared in the event of litigation. The product also reduces litigation exposure, enhances knowledge management and manages storage costs.

"We are excited about the relationship with Mackin Imaging Systems, which has a tremendous reputation in the document management marketplace for providing proven solutions and excellent support," said Mark Wasilko, Chief Marketing Officer, Trusted Edge. "This relationship is a natural extension of Mackin's product line and is particularly important to their clients who are concerned with complying with government regulations as well as reducing eDiscovery costs, protecting intellectual property, and establishing enterprise-wide retention policies for critical desktop documents and emails."
