Oracle To Buy ClearApp
ClearApp software is expected to extend Oracle's application management product, Enterprise Manager, to provide visibility of transactions across application components within service-oriented architectures.
Oracle has agree to acquire ClearApp, a maker of management software for composite applications within a service-oriented architecture. Financial details were not disclosed.
ClearApp technology enables IT staff to discover and model business services and component dependencies in runtime, monitor business service performance, and diagnose performance issue, Oracle said in a statement released Tuesday. The software's capabilities are expected to extend Oracle's application management product, Enterprise Manager, to provide visibility of transactions across application components.
The combined software in conjunction with Oracle's recent acquisition of management tool vendors Auptyma and Moniforce are expected to provide customers with "enhanced service levels, reduced system down-time and improved return on SOA investments," Oracle said.
The management tools are expected to be particularly helpful for applications built on Oracle's technologies, such as Oracle BPEL and Enterprise Service Bus, WebLogic Integration and WebLogic Portal. "Oracle intends to have the most complete offering for top-down management of business services," the company said.
The acquisition adds to Oracle's strategy of providing more tools for managing the complexity of SOA environments. "Oracle is focused on delivering the best solutions for managing such complex application environments by delivering solutions for end-user experience management, business services and application performance management, as well as application testing and quality management," Leng Leng Tan, Oracle VP of applications and systems management, said in a statement.
Oracle expects to complete the ClearApp acquisition this year. Until the deal closes, ClearApp will continue to operate independently. Post-acquisition, Oracle plans to continue to support existing ClearApp product capabilities.
