Flingo and the Future of TV

Smart TV apps publisher Flingo announced its second screen platform Samba at CES. BYTE's Boonsri Dickinson interviewed Flingo's Ashwin Navin about Flingo's new product that recommends content to TV watchers and allows them to share content on social media. Haier is one of the first two companies that will offer Samba on their TV.

As appliances and household entertainment systems go online, living rooms are getting smarter. To tap into the connected home, companies are augmenting the experience of watching TV. Flingo, a smart TV apps publisher, is using iPads to help connect the TV viewer to content viewed on their TV.

While at CES, I spoke to Ashwin Navin, co-founder of Flingo about their latest product launch called Samba. The technology surfaces relevant information to TV shows such as related shows or details on actors. We also walked over to Haier's booth to see how Samba is implemented with their line of TVs.
