October 31 is only a week away, which means it's time for our annual review of the geekiest, techiest, spookiest Halloween costumes for 2015.
While superhero costumes are our go-tos, this year we're eschewing them and opting for the ones that will warm your Sci-Fi obsessed hearts.
Classic sci-fi TV and movies never get old, so we're bringing your some options inspired by Dr. Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, and even Ghostbusters. Of course, there are always a few totally out-of-the-box ideas that people rock every Halloween. Those are the best.
If you didn't catch last year's list, we encourage you to check it out as well, because as you can imagine, trends come and go. It is always fun to see what was on our minds a year ago.
We picked our 13 favorites from this year's crop of Halloween costumes. Why 13? Well, because it is a scary number, of course. Check out these ideas, tell us if you'll be choosing one for your Halloween costume, and share your plans with us in the comments section below.
This isn't really a Halloween costume, but I'm sure the dude is going to break it out again this week. In case you missed it, he showed up at New York Comic Con earlier this month in a nine-foot-tall Hulkbuster Iron Man costume.
It is a tough year when this is the second-best Iron Man costume. That's a lot of blowing and twisting. It would take your average party clown months to make this thing. And you totally have to watch where you step. One accidental collision with someone dressed as Wolverine and your costume is toast.
It is a little geeky to be Captain America. It is uber-geeky to be Lego Captain America. Best part? You don't have to worry about how muscular you are.
I love when kids with mobility issues get creative and find a way to play along. We featured couple of options in last year's list, too. Extra points for putting in the city skyline.
Talk about not letting mobility issues get in the way of fun, Paralympian and best-selling author Josh Sundquist rocks the most amazing costumes every year. My personal favorite is the flamingo from 2013, in which he uses his one leg as a head and balances on his crutches. Last year's costume was an awesome USMNT foosball player. Stop by the comments section below after Halloween to find out what kind of amazing costume he comes up with this year.
Yes, I know this was last year's trend. But the nature of Halloween costume articles is that sometimes you miss the best costumes until people post them in November. This trend was too good not to show, and it gives me a chance to ask you what you think this year's trend will be.
I don't know about you, but the weather always turned cold on Halloween where I grew up. One of the challenges was creating a costume that was warm enough so you could go out trick-or-treating without a coat. A pile of Tribbles solves the problem. They are warm and snugly.
Can't forget man's best friend on Halloween. This one is especially good since that dog looks as soft and squishy as you'd expect.
Anyone can dress up as Dr. Who, but when you make your kid into your very own Tardis, you have now entered Geek God territory.
You really need to check out the blog on how this was made and how he fits inside that thing. This is so real, you'll want to cut it open, crawl inside, and wait for Han to build the shelter.
Group costumes are always good. A group costume involving this many people is awesome. This crew earns extra points for remaining friends after arguing over who got to dress as which princess.
It takes skill and patience to paint a picture and yourself for Halloween. I'm sad he didn't choose Edvard Munch's "The Scream" instead
Kudos for group costumes and ones that require people to stick together. This, however, is taking it to the extreme. Love how these guys made a roller coaster. Extra credit for the guy who did two costumes in one, riding the roller coaster as a pirate with a peg leg.
There you go, folks. Hope you enjoyed the list. As for my family, we'll have a Star Wars theme, with a little Princess Leia and an even littler Luke Skywalker dressed as a Storm Trooper to get into the Death Star. Oh, and yes, that is a Darth Vader pumpkin.
