Deloitte's 2016-2017 Global CIO survey reveals a disconnect between business expectations and IT capabilities. This is particularly so when it comes to expectations around innovation and cybersecurity.
Globally, 1,217 technology leaders across 48 countries responded to the survey, which was conducted May through September of 2016.
Deloitte explores the survey results in its report Navigating Legacy: Charting The Course To Digital. According to the report: "We discovered significant gaps between CIOs' perception of how they are delivering value to the business and the business's stated priorities and expectations. This is perhaps not surprising, given that IT investment commonly trails behind business expectations; however, these gaps become more prevalent in the "digital" era. While we did not specifically gather data about how respondents define "digital," we noticed that the gaps between business priorities and IT capabilities centered on components the market considers core to "digital" -- customer focus, technology-enabled business growth, and business innovation."
