AOL on Wednesday launched in beta a redesign of its search page that makes it easier to find in results links to video, pictures, audio and other content.
On the left-hand side of text results, AOL adds links to other content, such as video or audio. Clicking on the link provides a new list of results focused on the chosen content.
In an attempt to match the intent of the user's query, AOL delivers on the right-hand side of the page a module featuring items such as video and audio links for music artist queries; news content for searches on current events; and content from Yellow Pages and City Guide for local queries.
Other features include a history tool for tracking searches to make it easier to retriever previous results. This feature, however, can be turned off, if the user prefers to not have his queries tracked.
