Google Inc. has built three widgets for Apple Computer Inc.'s OS X.
Google developers created the small applications that run on the Mac operating system during the time they are given to work on any project of their choice. That time amounts to about 20 percent of their workweek. The applications include one for quick and easy posting to Google's blogging service, another for checking the inbox in the search engine's Webmail and a third for finding Websites a Google accountholder had searched for in the past. The company said in its official blog that the widgets are a "small step towards bringing our software to a variety of platforms." The company also offers Mac widgets built by third-party developers.
