InPhonic Inc. plans to start selling cellular phones and service plans on Amazon.com Inc. in the third quarter, the first such deal for the online retailer.

The multi-year deal announced Thursday makes the Washington, D.C., company the first reseller to sell mobile phone service plans in Amazon.com's wireless store. Financial details were not released.

Amazon.com, based in Seattle, has sold wireless products and plans since November 2000. InPhonic will serve as the anchor third-party merchant in the store, offering plans from leading wireless carriers in the United States.

"We're pleased to add InPhonic to our wireless store as our first third party merchant to offer activated cell phones with service plans," said Kal Raman, senior vice president of Amazon.com, said in a statement.
