FalconStor Software Inc. said Wednesday that its IPStor Enterprise Edition and VirtualTape Library will support Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.

Such support enables Novell and FalconStor to deliver Fibre Channel or IP-based storage for a wide range of architectures and industry requirements. In supporting SUSE Linux, FalconStor said it was offering customers offer a highly scalable storage environment that would simplify management, lower total cost of ownership and enables deployment of large-scale storage area networks (SANs).

FalconStor's VirtualTape Library solution enhances the speed and reliability of existing third party backup applications by using disks to emulate industry standard tape libraries. The VTL also improves by removing robotic mechanical failures and physical tape media errors, FalconStor said in a statement.

IPStor software helps build SANs across heterogeneous environments by providing storage services for enterprise applications and optimizing I/O performance.
