Harley-Davidson To Offer Built-In Garmin GPS

Garmin and Harley-Davidson plan to offer Garmin-built GPS navigation systems as options specifically designed for Road Glide and Electra Glide model motorcycles.

The new GPS system is called Roadtech Quest. It provides premium road navigation capabilities, including automatic route calculation and turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions to addresses or points of interest like road houses, truck stops and Harley-Davidson dealers and service centers.

Current owners of Harley-Davidson 1998 or later FLHT, FLHTC, FLHTCUI, and FLTRI models can retrofit the Roadtech Quest onto their motorcycle's fairing.

The unit contains 114MB of internal memory for loading detailed map information. The unit is sold with Garmin's MapSource City Select CD-ROM and a PC interface cable.

The Roadtech Quest is ruggedized and water-proof, and it can be removed from the motorcycle's integrated fairing mount.

Turn-by-turn audible voice prompts are delivered through the bike's audio system or an included earbud. The unit also has an internal lithium-ion battery.
