An excellent story in Computerworld explains how touch screens work. The article is by Alfred Poor, a former colleague of mine from yet another publication and a real talent at explaining things like this.
The article discusses not only current technologies like resistive and capacitive touch and LCD vs. OLED and AMOLED, like you find in the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Motorola Droid Razr M, but future trends such as One Glass Solution (OGS).
