Lucent Technologies Inc. has named Ruth E. Bruch senior VP and CIO. She replaces CIO Larry Kittelberger, who joined Honeywell International in July. Bruch, who begins her new job May 15, will report directly to Lucent's chief operating officer, Bob Holder.

"She has a track record of implementing large-scale, complex IT strategies across global organizations," Holder said in a prepared statement. "At Lucent, she will be instrumental in helping us continue the system improvements and cost-reduction efforts we have under way." Bruch will be responsible for operation of the company's information systems infrastructure, including global communications systems, corporate networks, and E-business platforms.

Her most recent position was VP and CIO at automotive supplier Visteon Corp., where she spearheaded replacement efforts for the company's legacy information systems. Bruch has also served as president and chief operating officer of Chicago startup Zonetrader.com and VP/CIO of Union Carbide Corp.
