New Hitachi HDTVs Announced

Hitachi unveiled ten new models of high definition television to be available to consumers between August and December this year.

Hitachi unveiled ten new models of high-definition television to be available to consumers between August and December this year. Screen sizes range from 50 to 70 inches; prices from $2,799 to $8,499.

Three of the new Hitachi models, the 50, 55 and 60-inch UltraVision HDTV VF820's boast exclusive LCD technologies yielding a brighter picture and precise focus in less space, Hitachi said Tuesday. Each video frame is processed as a digital still, "analyzed and optimized in real time for a sharp, smooth and seamless image." They feature "quick start" tuners and "seamless access to all available channels; CableCard compatibility; day/night usage settings; 2 NDMI audio/video settings; 2 wideband component inputs; and a 40-watt, 3-way speaker system, among other attributes." Retail: $3,099 - $3,999.

Three CineForm LCD Projection HDTVs, Series VG825, offer enhancements to the VF820 series including a TV Guide On Screen interactive programming guide, an illuminated Roll & Click Remote for fast volume and channel adjustment; one convenient interface for home theater operation, and Infra-Red (IR) outputs facilitating VCR and DVD recording. A USB port provides digital photograph viewing capability. Retail: $3,199 " $4,099.

LCoS Projection HDTV T925 series features a 60-inch, 1080- pixel system that retails for $5,299.

Two models comprise the Director's Series LCoS Projection X927, a 60- inch and a 70-inch, 1080p HDTV features Custom Color Temperature with four memories, and an Adjustable Color decoder for true color rendering of photo and video input. A single, hand-held 12-button remote controls the home theater system. Both models include Dual Deep Bass Woofers and a 40-watt, 3-way speaker system. Retail: $6,499 " $8,499.

Hitachi's new V720 LCD Projection HDTV offers a 50-inch display and High Contrast Lens System; video processing technology, is cable-ready, offers sound enhancement, expanded mode for all TV signals universal remote-control and split screen. Retail: $2,799.
