HP has replaced its low-end storage area network (SAN) models with two new models designed for small and midsize businesses, offering both high speed and enhanced virtualization capabilities. The MSA2000fc model handles data via 4Gb Fibre Channel, while the MSA2000i has 1Gb iSCSI. Both units can be fitted with a mix of up to 12 drives, both SAS and SATA, and support up to three additional drive shelves for a potential total of 48 drives and 36TB of capacity. They also work with VMware for virtualized deployments. Reliability features include dual power supplies and other redundant hardware with automatic failover.
The MSA2000 line features browser-based management software "baked in," and optional features include "snap and clone" data duplication capabilities for rapid backup and recovery. "Our modular storage arrays are perfect for customers who have a limited IT budget, but need a solution that is quickly scalable for shared storage environments," said Robin Hensley, HP's vice president of Entry Storage..The Register, FoxBusiness
