Pics and reviews of the newest version of the Microsoft Windows Mobile OS have hit the blogosphere. The new OS, codenamed "Crossbow," is expected to debut sometime in the first half of 2007.Crossbow is designed to work with the 2007 release of Microsoft Office and Exchange. The OS will require 64MB ROM/64MB RAM and a minimum 200MHz CPU. The new OS has a new Outlook map along with a Vista look and feel. Windows Live integration featuring Live Search Mobile, Live Mail Mobile, Live Messenger Mobile are available direct from the Today screen.
On the telephony front, Crossbow takes VoIP very seriously -- bundling SIP-based VoIP functionality with the OS's basic phone features. It'll be interesting to see if the wireless carriers let this function go around freely, as they've been adverse to letting users have full access to wireless VoIP in the past.
