A smash-and-grab attack on a New Jersey Apple Store nets thieves 23 MacBook Pro laptops, 14 iPhones and nine iPod touch handhelds in a quick 31 seconds. If they can rob a locked Apple Store that quickly, you can bet thieves can make off with employee hardware just as easily.Thieves, burglars and hoods love Apple gear. iPods were easy targets for street gangs to strip from users as they walked down the street or rode the subway.

Working in a coffee shop? Best not to leave your laptop, phone, or other property unattended -- especially if that gear was issued by your employer. Leaving company property unattended is just the opportunity that sneaky thieves are waiting for. It can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time.

That said, this is a different type of robbery. The five men that entered the Sagemore Apple Store in Marlton, New Jersey, appear to have rehearsed their little adventure. They smash the glass door, run in, and in about half a minute they've stolen 23 MacBook Pro laptops, 14 iPhones and nine iPod touch handhelds. They knew where to go and what to grab. They had to have scouted the location before the robbery.

By my estimate, the gear they took amounts to at least $50,000 worth of stuff. Question is, where are they going to sell it? Craigs List? eBay?

The entire thing was caught on video. Anyone who might have information that could identify the thieves is being asked to call police at 856-983-1118 or the confidential tip line at 856-988-4699.
