The free, beta version of Yahoo Zimbra Desktop provides offline access to multiple e-mail accounts as well as document, spreadsheet, and task management functions.Zimbra Desktop works with any POP or IMAP account, including Zimbra Mail, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, and AOL. It also adds Web 2.0-style features: "The exciting thing is you're getting the Zimbra features that haven't been available to people without the [open source] Zimbra server," according to John Robb, Zimbra's vice president of product marketing. Such features include the ability to view addresses in e-mails on Yahoo Maps; to preview Web links as thumbnails in the message without having to open a browser; and to place the cursor over a date to bring up a calendar.

Zimbra Desktop also comes with Zimbra Documents, a document and spreadsheet program; Zimbra Briefcase, which enables file storage; and Zimbra Tasks, a task management system. The program is available for download here. CNET News, InfoWorld
