ClearOrbit, a provider of real-time supply chain execution (SCE) software solutions, has released X.LM (Extended Label Manager) software. According to the company, the software is affordable, pre-packaged and easy to implement quickly, offering a bar code and RFID label compliance management software for companies of any size using any warehouse management system (WMS) or enterprise resource planning system (ERP). Using an open architecture that can exchange XML or leverage direct APIs, X.LM offers connectivity from any WMS or ERP to all leading bar code label printers and RFID printers (a.k.a. "tag burners"). Moreover, X.LM serves as a central repository for all the current drivers needed to run these diverse devices while isolating the ERP and WMS applications and business process from the effects of any hardware changes.

X.LM is available in two versions, X.LM Gold and X.LM Silver. Out of the box, X.LM provides immediate compatibly with all the major barcode formats for warehouse, auto, retail and healthcare, General Motors, Ford and Wal-Mart. Both X.LM Gold and X.LM Silver are driven by flexible rules-based printing and label selection, and provide web printing from remote facilities, so companies of all sizes can now engage in global drop-ship management. X.LM Gold has the added features of RFID printing and can integrate business processes with barcode and RFID tagging for EPC compliance. For Oracle users, X.LM also offers synchronous printing with WMS, MSCA, Oracle 9i and 10g, and it can connect to multiple data sources for to support advanced business flows.

"For companies who have been struggling with low-end label management solutions not integrated to their ERP or WMS processes, X.LM offers an affordable alternative tightly linked to their business needs and globally scalable," said Tom Dziersk, President and CEO of ClearOrbit. "We've taken 10 years of production printing experience and 'shrink-wrapped' it in X.LM. Companies running any WMS or ERP can quickly deploy sophisticated bar code printing and RFID tag burning, without investing a fortune in custom code, consulting, or new IT infrastructure."

"ClearOrbit has been a great partner in helping us leverage bar code and RFID technology to enable customer compliance and optimize supply chain operations", said Roy Gallagher, Director of IT for Doskocil. "X.LM promises to be a great option for companies wishing to deploy bar code and RFID quickly, easily and as a direct extension to their ERP or WMS."
