Pegasystems has added Web application development tools to its business process management suite.

Pegasystems is adding the Internet Application Composer just two months after launching a major upgrade of the SmartBPM Suite. The Web application builder streamlines mash-up construction and makes it possible to deploy the application across branch offices, contact centers, agent desktops, portals and other channels, as well as existing Web applications, the vendor said.

The new tool targets organizations that need to share all or part of an internal application outside the corporate firewall or to allow remote users, such as agents, brokers and dealers, to participate in new processes.

In deploying the mash-up with Composer, no additional coding or interfaces are needed in embedding SmartBPM functionality directly into an existing Web site, Pegasystems said. The development framework leverages the BPM's suite's ability to let the user change a process once and deploy it everywhere.

"Internet Application Composer is the first BPM offering that is designed specifically for organizations with remote users, self-service options, internal intranets, or external web opportunities that demand a consistent experience across multiple channels," Kerim Akgonul, VP of product management for Pegasystems, said in a statement.

Composer also provides the tools needed to build composite applications with secure communications between data sources and other Web page elements, the vendor said. In addition, the tool can build simplified user interfaces that manage all the complexities of communicating with multiple applications, different data sources and business services.

The Internet Application Composer started shipping this week. Pricing was not disclosed.

SmartBPM Suite v5.4, which was released at the end of March, centered on three themes: encouraging business user participation, speeding deployments and automating globalization of processes. To give businesses and IT staffs a head start on industry-specific processes, Pegasystems introduced with the suite frameworks for insurance claims servicing, care management for healthcare, fraud care management, financial services industry foundation and product configuration.

Pricing for the SmartBPM suite starts at less than $3,000 per user, according to Pegasystems.
