Pentaho Corp., a maker of open source business intelligence software, released on Thursday a version of its BI dashboard that includes integration with Google Inc.'s mapping service.

The integration enables users to superimpose location-based metrics on satellite images of geographical locations. The added detail can help companies visualize, for example, regions associated with certain customer behaviors or spending patterns.

Pentaho Dashboards is the interface to the company's reporting and analytical tools, which comprise the company's Open BI Suite.
