Between Curiosities trip to Mars being a success, other space missions are in the future as well. DTN will be very helpful and useful when it come to these future space trips and their communication with our planet Earth for updates and open lines of communications. I have not heard if any the deep space network protocols being developed, so I am sure that NASA had made a safe bet with DTN. As far as the robot test in Germany with the robot one word; COOL!
