re: Online Programs Target Adults Without Degrees
Cara, I completely agree. I was surprised to hear how many working adults don't have college degrees and am glad that more options are becoming available for them to get educated.

I think you make a good point, David. Adults who pursue online learning need to be motivated and choose programs wisely. From my research I've learned that adults must verify that their program is accredited, and choose a degree in a high-need field, in order to make the best of their education.

There is also room for criticism that some of the easy, inexpensive options wind up being a waste of time for unsophisticated adult learners. My brother in law has told me that too many of his ex-military friends wind up frittering away the money they get for education on credentials that no one recognizes or respects.

I definitely think we are at a point in which the old models of education are no longer sufficient to meet the needs of a workforce that is working longer hours and spending more time commuting. It is good to see that the system is finally becoming more flexible for adult learners.
