Dassault Systemes, appealing to the next generation of animators and engineers, on Wednesday rolled out Cosmic Blobs Lab Pack, a version of Cosmic Blobs 3D graphics software for kids that schools can deploy.
Known for three-dimensional (3D) computer-aided design (CAD) software and product lifecycle management Along with the new software, Dassault launched a Web site for teachers. The Cosmic Blobs Education Resource Center features curricula developed in cooperation with a range of educators, including education graduates of Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass., and members of the Apple Computer Inc.'s Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) Program. The materials on the Web site demonstrate how teachers can use the software to teach astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, entomology, geometry, and more. Dassault said educators have been tapped to create materials from lesson plans to teacher's guides that help others use Cosmic Blobs effectively in the classroom. Developed for Mac OS X and Windows operating systems, the Cosmic Blobs Lab Pack is scheduled for release in April through Dassault's SolidWorks division with special pricing for schools through resellers.
