GLENDALE, Calif. -- Panda Security, a leading provider of IT security solutions, today announced the general availability of a new whitepaper that examines the current malware landscape and reviews emerging preventative techniques and design. Malware is software designed to infiltrate a computer system without the owner's informed consent. The whitepaper introduces a new anti-malware approach known as Collective Intelligence, a method of predicting and preventing targeted attacks by correlating the malware detections and behavioral patterns of an entire user community. The paper, entitled “Combating Malware: Leveraging the Power of a Planet”, is available for free download here: http://us.pandasecurity.com/pdf/collectiveintelligence.pdf.

This whitepaper illustrates how today’s professional malware attacks infect unsuspecting users at every level, a dynamic that has resulted in the next big cyber-plague for individuals and businesses alike. For example, a leading industry analyst firm recently predicted that by the end of 2007 up to 75 percent of enterprises will be infected with some form of undetected targeted malware that is financially motivated. The whitepaper goes on to discuss that with malware incidents on the rise, companies must increasingly seek out new and effective ways to protect themselves with a better equipped security layer.

“Panda Security sees more and more companies falling prey to unsuspecting attacks that can cause millions of dollars worth of damage,” said Ryan Sherstobitoff, chief corporate evangelist at Panda Security. “This whitepaper is a great resource for both enterprises and individuals who are uncomfortable with their existing security solutions in the face of today’s costly malware attacks. We look forward to continuing our work to raise awareness of how Collective Intelligence can give companies a technological edge over cyber criminals.”
