Tibco on Thursday launched a BusinessWorks upgrade that implements the Web Services Business Process Execution Language specification to provide better orchestration of services within a service-oriented architecture.

The advanced orchestration capability in BusinessWorks 5.4 enables visibility into straight-through-process execution and allows for faster correction in exception cases, officials with the Palo Alto, Calif., company said. In addition, the BPEL support provides orchestration that's integrated with enterprise service bus (ESB) technology.

In addition, the upgrade has a more pluggable security model that enables authorization and authentication against external identity management systems, and access to the authentication data throughout a BusinessWorks process. The new version also has a better engine for data transformation, and supports 64-bit platforms of Linux, Solar X86, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris 9 and Solaris 10.

Pricing for BusinessWorks version 5.4 starts at $75,000. The upgrade is available at no additional charge to customers with current maintenance contracts.
