ISYS Enterprise Search Is Integrated In Microsoft's SharePoint
The search vendor says users can take full advantage of ISYS:web 8 features without leaving their SharePoint portals.
Microsoft's SharePoint development platform has a new enterprise search engine offered by ISYS Search Software, which said it has integrated its ISYS:web 8 into Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS).
"We believe [ISYS] is the only enterprise search vendor to completely integrate the full complement of our functionality inside SharePoint," a spokeswoman for ISYS said Wednesday in an e-mail. "That integration includes automatic categorization of results and entity detection, which are unique and important pieces that no one else is offering inside SharePoint."
Microsoft has been beefing up SharePoint by opening it up to outside vendors and developers.
ISYS said users can take full advantage of its advanced search features without leaving their SharePoint portals. The search engine company added that seamless integration of ISYS into SharePoint requires only a few steps to configure, and users can quickly use SharePoint document management and collaboration tools.
"SharePoint is increasingly becoming an important tool for a large portion of our customers," said Ian Davies, founder and managing director of ISYS, in a statement. "By enabling seamless integration, we are able to offer a comprehensive information access and management solution."
When ISYS is integrated in SharePoint, the full functionality of both products is maintained. Users can simultaneously search across multiple content sources, including MOSS points, network drives, and Web sites. Advanced search functions such as automatic categorization and entity detection are also available in the collaborative ISYS approach in SharePoint.
ISYS said the collaborative deal with SharePoint is expected to help it attract more global customers. ISYS currently has customers in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
