ABC News Latest Channel Added To Slacker Radio

Slack Personal Radio doesn't want to lose your attention if its the latest headlines you're after. It recently inked a deal to offer ABC News content, though only to paying customers.

The number of options mobile Internet users have to discover and listen to new content seems to grow by the day. Slacker Radio is one of them, and offers an Internet-based radio service that lets users create personalized radio stations. Before now, it has always been focused on music. No longer.

If you like to get your news from Diane Sawyer, Robin Roberts, Sam Champion, and George Stephanopoulos, prepare for some excitement. Starting Tuesday, July 20, Slacker has added ABC News Radio as the sole news station to its Internet radio offering.

According to Slacker, the ABC News Radio station will include national, world, sports, politics, entertainment, business and tech news, as well as breaking headlines at the top of every hour.

The station will air segments from some of ABC's more popular programs, including Good Morning America, and Nightline. Slacker listeners will also be able to customize the news that is delivered to them, similar (says Slacker) to how skipping works in its normal Internet radio service.

The one bummer is that ABC's content won't be available for free. Anyone can snag a free 14-day trial, but if you want to keep listening, you'll have to subscriber to Slacker Radio Plus, which costs $4 per month. That also gets subscribers unlimited skips during normal radio listening and fewer ads.

ABC News' content is accessible from most any device that can playback Slacker Personal Radio, which includes devices such as the web, BlackBerries, the iPhone, iPod touch, Android phones, Slacker-enabled Sony TVs or some Sony Blu-Ray players.
