Lookout Mobile Security Protects Android Smartphones
For a while now, it seems as if malware that targets smartphones has been more of a theoretical exercise as opposed to a real threat. And mobile security software is one of the last things that many people and businesses think they need. In this review, we look at one of the most downloaded security apps for Android devices. Lookout Mobile Security is available both as a free app and as a premium for-pay product. Lookout can scan devices for infected apps, backup content of the phone, and can be used to find lost or stolen Android devices.
The Lookout Mobile Security app can be downloaded and installed from the Android Market. Once installed, the Lookout app presents a getting-started screen that walks the user through configuring the app for use on their smartphone. In the free version of Lookout, Backup only consists of contact backups. The missing device features can locate a lost smartphone on a map, but the premium service is needed in order to remotely lock or wipe a stolen or lost device. In order to use the Web-based management features of Lookout, users also need to create an account at mylookout.com.
