Business Objects named Mark Doll, an industry veteran with 20 years of consulting experience, as new head of the business intelligence firm's professional services unit.

Business Objects' professional services group provides customer education, technology implementation and consulting services to companies deploying the firm's software. The group specializes in "accelerated time-to-benefit, demonstrable return on investment and reduced project risk," Business Objects says.

Doll will assume the title of senior vice president, professional services. He replaces Joni Kahn, who left Business Objects to join consulting firm Bearing Point as executive vice president of technology services.

Prior to joining Business Objects, Doll was managing partner of the Security and Technology Solutions group at consulting firm Ernst & Young. The group, which numbers 200 employees, handles security assessments, risk management and regulatory compliance for Ernst & Young clients.
