Chart.io Seeks To Shake Up BI
Startup's cloud-based business intelligence solution takes on
If you believe what Chart.io co-founder and CEO David Beyer has to say, the business intelligence solution provider market is ripe for disruption by a smaller, nimbler cloud-based BI offering.
In the video below, Beyer joins InformationWeek Valley View hosts Fritz Nelson and David Berlind to make his case for why Chart.io is just that company. According to Beyer, compared to the established BI toolmakers, Chart.io involves far less bulk because of its cloud-based nature (versus other offerings that are on-premises). Because of how Chart.io can crawl the schema of any database and automatically produce supposedly useful dashboards without any human intervention, Beyer claims Chart.io to be nimbler on the deployment front, whereas, he says, the on-prem BI tools can sometimes take "months and in some cases maybe years to deploy."
However, for a tool to automatically discover the most important relationships in a database--any database--and deliver meaningful dashboards is an extremely tall order. But Beyer thinks Chart.io is up to the task. Watch the video.
