IONA Delivers Enhancements to Artix and Orbacus

IONA Technologies, a provider of high-performance integration solutions for mission-critical IT environments, has announced general availability of updated versions of the company’s Artix and Orbacus products. The upgrades contain new functionality to increase performance and better meet the needs of customers with complex enterprise integration challenges.

Artix 2.1 is the latest version of the company’s Web services integration software. Enhancements to Artix 2.1 have been made in a variety of areas including the product’s run time and development environments. In addition to operating on new platforms such as Windows VC 7.1 and Linux AS 3.0, the latest version of Artix features the ability to handle new payload formats and includes C++ context support. Developers using Artix benefit from enhanced command line tools and an improved GUI that streamlines the development process.

Orbacus 4.2 is the company’s small footprint CORBA ORB, suited for use in memory-constrained applications. The newest version of Orbacus includes enhanced support for Java applets and application servers, a new Leader-Follower communication concurrency model and support for additional platforms, C++ compilers, and JDK versions. “In the current business environment, it’s all about interoperability and the value that comes from having systems that can easily communicate,” continued Devens. “Our products across the Artix and Orbacus families are perfectly suited for that purpose.”
