The default iPod music app provides great controls for selecting and playing your music. Here are some tips for accessing them faster.

Here's how to get basic controls for music playback on your iOS device while the screen is locked. Press the Home button twice until the media controls appear on the screen.

If your iOS device is already unlocked, press the Home button twice to bring up apps you use most frequently. Then swipe to the right. The media controls pop up.

These techniques work the same on the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad.

Here's another easy way to control music playback if you have headphones with built-in controls. A three-button control lets you adjust volume and toggle playback with a single click of the middle button.
