Compaq and EMC Corp. agreed last week to share application programming interfaces so customers using either company's software can manage the other vendor's storage systems from a single console. Earlier this month, EMC launched its WideSky storage-management platform to provide open integration between multivendor storage systems, and Compaq says it expects to tightly integrate its systems' management functionality with EMC's products.
