Computer Sciences Corp. says it has signed a broad IT outsourcing deal with global telecom equipment manufacturer Marconi Corp. plc.

Under terms of the deal, valued at $735 million over 10 years, CSC will provide Marconi with technical and management support for the company's PCs, servers, and help-desk services at Marconi operations worldwide. Computer Sciences also will provide Marconi with application-development services.

About 360 of Marconi's IT personnel in Europe, Africa, and the Americas will transfer to CSC in June. As part of the agreement, CSC is subcontracting support for Marconi's LAN, WAN, and voice networking services to British Telecommunications. Forty Marconi IT staffers will join BT to help fulfill the arrangement.

CSC says it has signed $3.5 billion in new services contracts thus far in the current quarter.
