FeedBurner Buys Blogbeat
The combined online service is expected to provide FeedBurner customers with the ability to compare data on feed subscribers and blog visitors.
FeedBurner Inc., a maker of online software for managing RSS feeds, said Monday that it has acquired blog analytics provider Blogbeat. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The combined online service is expected to provide FeedBurner customers with the ability to compare data on feed subscribers and blog visitors. Primarily bloggers, podcasters and other content providers use FeedBurner's service. The privately held Chicago-based company claims 200,000 content publishers use its management service.
"Blogbeat's approach to leveraging feeds as a means to gather information about the blog is directly aligned with ours," said Steve Olechowski, FeedBurner's cofounder and chief operating officer.
FeedBurner plans to complete the integration of Blogbeat in the fourth quarter. During the transition, FeedBurner will support Blogbeat customers, and provide full refunds, the company said.
Blogbeat, based in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., will not be adding any more users. FeedBurner plans to launch in 2007 new and optional fee-based enhancements as a result of the acquisition. Blogbeat founder Jeff Turner has joined FeedBurner as the lead engineer of Web analytics.
