George Orlov was named CIO of technology research firm Forrester Research earlier this week. Orlov, whose extensive resume includes CIO stints at Pacific Gas & Electric and ComEd, replaces Richard Belanger, who left Forrester in November.

Forrester expects Orlov to set the firm's IT strategy agenda and serve as an adviser to the CIOs of its clients. Said Forrester Chairman George Colony in a statement: "We are taking a page from our own research and hiring a CIO who will act as a business partner and the senior technical member of the executive team to ensure that technology ideas are brought to bear on key strategic business matters."

Orlov most recently served as CIO for IT infrastructure consulting firm Callisma, which was acquired by SBC Communications.
